# easy to work your way through kelp
# easy to dive caves
# no drag when diving in strong currents
# doesn't indicate to fish where you are
# freer movement to work a reef, overhang
# quicker to get set up once you jump in the water (this could mean the difference between a good fish or no fish when hunting yellowtail)
# quicker to get back into the boat (no float line to wind up so that you can move quickly to the next school of fish)
# if you shoot into the reef or the back of the cave it's easy to swim to the surface and locate your spear again with the line
# visibility - with a float boats and people know where you are and it's easy for them to keep track of you.
# no where to put your catch if you are diving from the shore, unless you don't mind using a body stringer.
# if you drop your gun you loose it (if you are not used to diving with a reelgun this could be a "reel" problem)
# muzzle wraps, this happens when your line gets wrapped around your muzzle or rubbers cause your reel to jam and if it's a big fish you will have to let go of your gun. Just remember that your gun or fish is not as important as your life, it's better to loose some gear than your life.
